Advertising and Popups

There is no advertising on this site, no affiliations, no discount codes, nothing redeemable! This will not change it's deliberate! It is a paid site and the site creator assumes all the costs involved in the site you will never be asked to pay for anything regarding this site the site creator assumes all costs of the site! If you are asked at any place at any time to pay anything regarding this site for whatever reason see it is a horrible lie and disregard it this will never happen! This site will never cost you anything the site creator assumes all costs! The site does not use popups except for two sites where popups are used internally because the popup is the server in a server client relationship on that site! The two sites affected are SocketFiles and ShoutingBoard these two sites are the only sites with Popups and these Popups are used internally by that site and have no relationship or connection to anything else on this website or any other website for that matter their sole purpose is to pass data from the browser to the server for that site! WeatherThingy and WeatherThingy2 are intended to be two versions of the same site they may appear to be popups to each other but they are not! One requires you enter the location of where you want the weather the other will use your Browser's GeoLocation instead if GeoLocation is not available that version will redirect to the other version where it is not needed!

Contact Information

This is the personal website of William Scott Middleton who intended it as a personal webspace or a personal work area where he could do his Information Technology (IT) in private it was never intended to be a public website and that goal hasn't changed! William has a Diploma, Bachelor and Masters Degree in Information Technology this was intended to be his world, his little piece of the World Wide Web (WWW), a place where he could better and utilise his skills privately. No one else was considered relevant in the creation of this site and no one assists him in the creation of this site it was a work he does by himself and pays for at his own expense. At its original creation it had no visitors there was no need for this page or anything like that because it wasn't intended for visitors and because no one would find it, it didn't matter that it didn't have a public feel to it in the sense of a Home Page that hasn't changed! It only appears in Google's search results because it has been registered by me because of the idea of a Google search for the site which has since then gone because it's not relevant it was just something I was exploring as it may have been relevant. It has unfortunately gained some interest through that medium although not a lot of interest there is some interest in the site from that medium requiring this kind of information now. There is a mailer for feedback purposes, it is an anonymous mailer deliberately designed so I can't know who you are or where you are unless you want me too by disclosing it on the form. To date it has never been used but that's okay, the creator of this site didn't really want to be contacted regarding it so it was okay there was no feedback from it!

Privacy Policy

This site does not give you the ability to give me any personal information I can't do anything with your personal information because I don't have it and I don't have it deliberately there is no real reason why I would ever want this information unless I was planning on doing something unethical with it. If you are asked to give personal information because of this site ignore it because it's a lie I have no reason to ask you for that information at any time for any reason. The site does use your IP address but this is the only information the site has regarding you it does not use or acquire any other information from you but your IP address. There is information that can be collected about you from this IP address and Internet Thingy and Knowing You shows you this kind of information that is collectable from your IP address. I believe the GeoLocation is derived from your IP address so in most browsers this would link to the same information you would've got if it was the IP address. There is no attempt made by me on the server or on this website to obscure, hide or replace the Server IP address with another it is exactly the same IP address given to me by the domain hoster that is made available to you on this site there is no change! This site doesn't use cookies deliberately there are no cookies created by this site and for this site therefore, there is no need for you to consent to any cookies regarding this site as they are not used! You can use Transfer Files, ShoutingBoard and SocketFiles to upload personal data to the server each time you use these however the previous data will be overwritten with the new data and this new data can be removed with a cleanup.php file which you can run at your leisure that will remove that last upload to the server from the server!

Understanding the Time Zones & Clock Types

The Universal Time Clock (UTC) is a recent version of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) which is the time in Greenwich, England. The world is split up into 24 hour time zones starting with +1 to +12 for all time zones ahead of the GMT/UTC clock. For example, in Sydney, Australia the time zone is +10 it is ten hours ahead of the GMT/UTC clock. In the same way all time zones starting with -1 to -12 are said to be behind the GMT/UTC clock. For example, in Texas, USA where the time zone is -5 it is five hours behind the GMT/UTC clock. Each time zone's time is relative to the GMT/UTC clock this has been the way of it for as long as anyone can remember.  The GPS (Global Positioning System) found Greenwich, England was 0 degrees Longitude and 51.4 degrees Latitude it wasn't actually 0 degrees longitude and 0 degrees latitude as originally believed! For most people this is trivial for some it's not they want the time at longitude 0 and latitude 0 but it would still fall within the same time zone as the GMT/UTC clock thus would have the same time as the GMT/UTC clock, it's not a different time! Some did have a problem with it regardless and created a location that was 0 degrees longitude and 0 degrees latitude they call it Null Island. The time at Null Island is referred to as "ZULU" time but it is exactly the same time as the GMT/UTC clock in Greenwich England! As for Coordinated Universal Time Clock it refers to the accuracy of this GMT/UTC clock for most people this problem is trivial they aren't interested in the science of time keeping but if you are you will realise clocks don't generally keep good time it is possible over time for your clock to drift so far away from the right time it shows the wrong time and for those people the clock would need to be corrected from time to time because it's not the right time any more! This is what Coordinarted Universal Time Clock is all about, it's a clock designed not to have this problem it's not like your average clock this clock doesn't stray from the right time over time it keeps it! It can be used to compare and correct any clock that has strayed from the correct time because the Coordinated Universal Time Clock's time would still be right! The BPC time signal in China, the DCF time signal in Germany, the GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite time signal, the JJY time signal in Japan, the MSF time signal in the UK, the WWVB time signal in the United States all broadcast a Coordinated Universal Time Clock signal so these devices that do stray from the correct time can correct themselves without needing to be adjusted manually. NTP (Network Time Protocol) offers this same functionality over the Internet for devices connected to the Internet like your Personal Computer (PC) and modem/router for example but this site does NOT provide any of these services!

RetroClock and Clock UTC, which one is more accurate?!

It is called "RetroClock" for a reason it uses dated technologies making "ClockUTC" more accurate by default because it's not based on dated technololgies but that is not entirely true! "ClockUTC" is written in PHP where "RetroClock" is written in JavaScript and the truth is PHP is older than JavaScript however, the technology I use in PHP to get your location information is younger than JavaScript! In order to give you a more accurate answer we are going to have to go into a lot more detail a lot of you are not interested in long answer so the quickest answer is just to tell you why they are different. JavaScript is designed for the browser it works inside the browser and is limited to the browser running on the machine accessing the site! PHP runs on the server the browser connects to that server and the browser gets that information from that server! The server will use your IP address to determine where you are in the world JavaScript just assumes your computer is telling it the truth. JavaScript assumes you are located exactly where your computer says you are located which may not be the case if you move around a lot or have a computer set up with the default values which may be different to where you are located resulting in incorrect location information. For example, the computer may be configured for an American when you're Australian most Australians wouldn't  notice a difference if you were in Britain you might and then you would change the configuration accordingly. JavaScript justs assumes this configuration is accurate and it may not be the server can't access that configuration for security reasons it has to get that information through some other means hence your IP address. The server will use IPInfo to determine where your IP address is located in the world then will display your date and time for that location making it by design a lot more accurate than "RetroClock" which just assumes what JavaScript assumes is true. IPInfo is not like other services that offer the same information, they will give you their information in real time which means its information is as accurate as it can be at the time it's not up to a month old as it is with some other providers. However it only returns limited information in its free service to get more accurate information you have to pay for it and I do not pay for it the free limited service is enough for my needs at this time which means it's not as accurate as it could be but it's a lot more accurate than other providers whose information is updated a lot less often!
